The Madrid Museo Nacional del Prado is giving us a view of Georges de La Tour works.

The Newborn Child. Georges de La Tour. Rennes, Muséee des Beaux Arts

He is mostly known for his religious chiaroscuro scenes lit by candlelight, paints that show a surprising lyricism with monumental forms and filled with solitude and silence.

It is believed that more than 40 paintings or less are autograph works, while 28 canvases and prints are copies of lost originals. His composition is pared down to its essential details with no anecdotal elements, architecture or landscape, and even the accessories are reduced to the absolutely necessary, for example: his saints usually lack haloes while his angels have no wings.

Now the museum delights us with an exhibition named “Georges de la Tour. 1953 – 1652” in where the viewer will see and feel the warm and known more about his artistic personality.
